Kenyans on Twitter have for the second time bashed CNN after it reported Kenya as being a “hotbed” of terror ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit.
This headline by CNN was drawn from the fact that Kenya has faced a series of attacks lately from the Al Shabaab terror group, the deadliest being the Garissa University College attack that left 148 Kenyans dead in April. On twitter the hash tag #SomeoneTellCNN has as well trended worldwide.
The raised concerns also come days after Obama’s itinerary was leaked by a top official therefore raising security fears.
However, this was not taken lightly by Kenyans on Twitter (#KOT) as they brought back #SomeoneTellCNN for the second time as they see this as an attempt by CNN to mock as well as an attempt by the broadcaster to rain on Kenya’s parade ahead of what is largely seen as President Obama’s homecoming.
However, hours later CNN has changed the headline to read, “Terror Threat Concerns After Obama Trip info exposed.”
Below are some of the reactions from twitter
Dear CNN,
You are accountable to a wide global audience & sensentional/irresponsible headlines will be called out. #KOT
